CereCare crossed rivers and climbed mountains to reach visually impaired individuals. The Free White Cane Program roams around the Philippines to give out canes to blind individuals who do not have the means to buy one. This campaign started with Anita Tanco five years ago.
Announcement: Our white cane now comes with a free bag case!
Why is the white cane WHITE?
According to the American Council for the Blind’s website James Biggs of Bristol claimed to have invented the white cane in 1921. After an accident claimed his sight, the artist had to readjust to his environment. Worried by the increased motor vehicle traffic around his home, Biggs decided to paint his walking stick white to make himself more visible to motorists. Ten years later, the white cane established its presence in society.
